Hawks Extend Lakers Losing

A superb team effort from the Hawks extended the visiting Lakers losing streak to two at Philips Arena and on the road. Kobe Bryant led LA with 28 pts but the Hawks won the battle of the bench 42-22. Atlanta takes over sole possession of 3rd place in the East.

Benedict, Tuskegee Dance

After a 3-yr hiatus, the Lady Tigers Benedict College are champs again after defeating Stillman (15-15) 72-67. Tuskegee won the men's bracket with a 61-57 win over top-seeded Clark Atlanta.

Hawks Outlast Warriors

The Hawks saw a rejuvenated Mike Bibby score 23 points and a still red hot Josh Smith drop 29 to out bomb the sizzling shooting of the Golden State Warriors 127-122 at Philips Arena. Rookie of the Year candidate Stephen Curry guard scored 31 points on 11 of 19 shooting for the visitors.

Hawks Grease Sixers Skid

Marvin Williams scored 6 of his team high 21 points in the 1st to give the Hawks the only lead in the game as the Sixers dropped their 4th straight game 93-112 in Atlanta. Atlanta native Louis Williams scored a game high 30 pts in the loss.

Johnson Shines in OT

For the second straight game Atlanta found itself smack dab in the middle of another overtime skirmish. This time Joe Johnson carried the Hawks to a 106-102 over the stubborn Bucks with 9 points in the extra session.

Mavs Ride in OT

Dallas rode into Philips arena and galloped out with a 111-103 overtime shocker over Atlanta. The Hawks watched a 13 pt lead vaporize behind Jason Kidd's triple double. Joe Johnson led Atlanta with 27 pts in a losing effort.

Bench Lifts Heat

Daequan Cook led the Heat bench outscoring the Hawks bench 45-8 to lift Miami to a 94-76 win in Atlanta. Cook drained three consecutive 3-pt shots in 62 seconds to give the Heat the final lead of the game.

Hawks Carve Up Bulls

Josh Smith filled out the stat sheet with his second career triple double to help lead the Hawks to a 91-81 running of the Bulls in Atlanta. Atlanta erased a 6 point deficit outscoring Chicago 27-11 in the final quarter for the win.

Hawks Snip Clips

After a sluggish two and a half quarters of ball the Hawks and All-Star Joe Johnson found their stroke. Johnson scored 34 pts and Jamal Crawford 22 pts to snatch a 103-97 victory from the visiting Los Angeles Clippers.

Celtics, Swept Away in Atlanta

A rivalry that dates back to the days of Larry Bird and Dominique Wilkins has reached a new level. After forcing the Celtics to a game 7 two years ago, the Hawks upped the ante sweeping the 4-game set with a 100-91 win.

Hawks Buzz Bobcats

The Hawks were off and running to a 31-17 lead keeping the Bobcats at bay behind a combined 47 points from Jamal Crawford and Al Horford. Atlanta won 103-89 to maintain a half game lead over Orlando atop the SE Division.

Evans, Kings Dethroned

Trailing at the half the Hawks woke up to put an end to the manhandling Tyreke Evans and the Kings were putting on them. Jamal Crawford provided the scoring and Mo Evans an emphatic 3rd quarter dunk to spark Atlanta to a 108-97 win.

Thunder Silences Hawks

No last second heroics for the Hawks. Jamal Crawford's last second 3-pt shot to tie the game clanked off the rim giving the Thunder a 94-91 win.

Crawford 3 Eclipses Suns

Jamal Crawford drained a near 30-foot three pointer to lift the Hawks to a 102-101 victory with no time remaining on the clock. The shot from Crawford eclipsed a 28 point performance by the Suns Amare Stoudemire.

Wizardry Fail

Joe Johnson and Jamal Crawford combined for 46 points to help the Hawks hold off the Wizards 94-82. Atlanta led by as much as 22 points before allowing Washington back in the game in the third.

Hawks-Crawford Chill Celtics

The Hawks Jamal Crawford converted a 4-point play with 52.5 seconds to play to put the game out of reach for the charging Celtics. Paul Pierce's 21 points led the Celtics who were playing without the injured Kevin Garnett.

Hawks End Slide

Jamal Crawford went on a scoring tear pumping in 29 points in 24 minutes of playing time to lift the Hawks to a 119-89 mashing of the woeful Nets. The win at home stopped a 4 game losing streak that began the week after Chrismas.

Knicks Ride Robinson

Nate Robinson burned the Hawks for 41 points including 14 in overtime to lead the Knicks to a 112-108 come from behind win. The energetic point guard took over the game in the fourth hitting the tying bucket to send the game into overtime.

Cavs Win Ugly

A packed Philips Arena unexpectedly saw a modest scoring show from LeBron James as well as a below par second half performance from the normally hot Hawks Tuesday night. The Cavs defeated the Hawks 95-84 in Atlanta.

Ryan 2 for 2

Matt Ryan threw three touchdowns to notch his second win in as many games since returning from a turf toe injury. The 31-3 win over the Bills assured the Falcons of at least a .500 record on the season.

Vick-torious

Michael Vick returned to the Georgia Dome with the same charismatic smile but wearing a different bird winging it on his helmet. Donovan McNabb and Vick combined to lead the Eagles to a 34-7 win over the Falcons.

Winning Wounded

Atlanta lost several key players, including starters Matt Ryan and Michael Turner, to injuries. Chris Redman tossed a 5 yard pass to Roddy White for a come behind winning TD to beat the Bucs 20-17.

Overwhelmed

Chris Paul didn't make the trip to watch new Head Coach Jeff Bower suffer a second straight loss since relieving Byron Scott on last Thursday. Led by Joe Johnson's 26 pts, five Hawks scored in double figures to blow out the Hornets 121-98.

Hall Pass Revoked

DeAngelo Hall returned to the Georgia Dome with a new team but the same old antics that got him shipped to and out of Oakland. The melee did not overshadow Michael Turner who romped for 166 yards to lead Atlanta over Washington 31-17.

Cowboys Miles Ahead of Falcons

Dallas welcomed Atlanta to its new state of the art facility rather rudely Sunday afternoon. Receiver Miles Austin ransacked the Falcons secondary for 6 catches, 171 yards and 2 TD to lead the Cowboys to a 37-21 victory.
